There are many things that we all want to achieve in life, like getting our dream job, buying a house, stating a family to name a few, so where do we start.
The key is to set SMART goals to help you get where you want to
Specific - Make the goal clear and specific
Measurable - The goal must be measurable so you know its been achieved or not
Achievable or Attainable - Your goal should be realistic and not overboard
Relevant - It should help you get to where you want and be a step in the right direction
Time Based - You should give yourself a time frame in which you want achieve the goal
The important thing is to break down the big life goals into mini SMART goals. For example, you want to buy a house so lets break this down. To buy a house you need money, to get money you need a job, to get a job you need pass an interview, to get the interview you need to be qualified. So as you can see there a series of mini goals. If you pick 'qualified', we can set a SMART goal.
As an example
S - Specific - Obtain a Diploma in Business Management
M -Measurable - There are exams and coursework so you can measure your progress
A - You've picked a course that interests you so you can realistically complete it
R - Relevant - Completing this course puts you a set closer to you greater goal
T - Time bound - Set a date before which you complete the course e.g one year
Once you complete the about SMART goal then you can set another one, then another, then another. The idea is that as time goes on you move closer and closer to the big goal that you have. Some mini goals can run concurrently with others so you can achieve them quicker. You must remember to be dedicated in pursuing your goal and not get distracted or dismayed. Do not procrastinate, stick with it, whether it rains or shines, whether you're in a good mood or not - the things that need to get done, need to get done - if you don't, no one else will do it for you. You'll thank yourself later.
Be SMART and achieve.
All the best!
